Neuro-Linguistic Programming Notes

  • Create rapport by matching client’s breathing, body movement and reflect their choice of words
  • Breaking rapport and mismatching to get your own way
  • Deletion - known knowns, known unknowns, unknown knowns, unknown unknowns
  • Six levels of change: connectedness and higher purpose (who else), identity and mission (who), beliefs and values (why), capabilities (how), behaviour (what), environment (where and with whom)
  • Key themes: know what you want (goal setting), know whether you are getting what you want (sensory acuity), get the attention of the unconscious mind (rapport), adjust what you are doing accordingly (behavioural flexibility), model excellence, identify limiting beliefs, use the bell jar distraction technique
  • Assumptions to live by: the meaning of your communication is the result you get, we are all unique, there is no such thing as failure - only feedback, behaviour speaks louder than words, we cannot not communicate, you have within you all the resources to achieve what you want, behind every behaviour there is always a positive intention
